Marine Conservation Research International is a unique not-for-profit organisation conducting practical conservation projects on vulnerable marine wildlife and habitats, and investigating human impacts including threats such as underwater noise, disturbance and marine debris. R/V Song of the Whale is the team’s purpose built sailing research vessel.

Cyprus Cetacean Survey

A team from MCR are currently in Cyprus working with colleagues from the Department of Fisheries and Marine Research (DFMR), AP Marine and Pelagos Cetacean Research Institute. Together we are conducting the first of three visual and acoustic surveys of Cypriot waters out to 50 Nautical miles.  During the fist few days the team had several encounters with sperm whales.  Meanwhile, R/V Song of the Whale continues to work in Iceland.
